Question Number 1

We're all supposed to be innately good. That's supposedly our nature. Being made in the image and likeness of God, we really are supposed to be good. Why is the good way supposedly the path less traveled then? We're all good, but why is it easier for us to do bad things? Why are the least lasting things most attractive? Why listen to a dumb supermodel when you can listen to an old, smart, but saggy politician? You wanna try telling me before I start expounding? The comments section is open, and you're invited to write.

Yes, that's true. I even thought about that. Hmm... Mikee, let me try...hahaha... In my opinion, I think, one reason why most of us find it easier to do bad things is because they don't have enough faith in God. Because this world depends on the modern technology, people become more materialistic...and sometimes, greedy. Some even buy things that they really don't need. (I actually feel guilty about that. Haha) On the other hand, most people would want to listen to gossips and other insignificant stuff because they find it more entertaining. I don't know, but this is what I observed from the people who love to listen to gossips. For them, the words of an old, smart, but saggy politician is boring. But, if they only try to listen to her or him, they'll find words of wisdom, and maybe learn something from him and her too. Oh well, this is only a try. haha. *sigh*

tabula rosa - i believe that's the best concept i'll ever rely on when it comes to observing every one else's behavior. i just can't understand my professor when she keeps on pointing out to me that we are innately bad and evil. God Bless her. but you know, i think that 'doing good' is not an option when 'being good' is your ultimate goal in life; of course, besides pleasing God and the like. oh well, that's what keeps me struggling but winning in my own battle field. thank you for the thoughts Mikee, you'll be blessed! :-)

I think that while by nature, we, people are good.. it is also our nature to be highly susceptible to sin.. and if we sin, that's the time that we fail to show the goodness in us, thus we become bad. But as they say, we can always choose to do the right thing over the wrong one. It's just a matter of one's own values and beliefs, or the lack of it..

Nice blog you got here Mikee :)

its just a matter of choice,,
in some instances there are people who has a different interpretation with particular things in short, some dont even know what bad doings really is. in the other hand, if you'll base your thinking the way bible does, you will have a great definition of what's right from wrong.

matthew 7:13-14 says "enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. but small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." i think this verse might answer some of your, erm, sub-questions indirectly.

wondering who the dumb supermodel is...

I surely hope you'd still welcome a late comment.

I'm not good at expounding my thoughts, but let me try. I think it's because people in the world nowadays have no sense of what really matters. People have become too materialistic and self-centered - the "as long as it makes me happy" kind of lifestyle. It's also how people view spiritual nourishment or gaining a bit of wisdom as something trivial or even corny for some, since they can do away with their own "skills" whatsoever.

Being good is innate in people, it's our choices that lead us to do otherwise. Because society has a way of setting standards of who's in or out, people just tend to follow the crowd, regardless of whether it's good or bad. But if they let their values and morals take over what society puts on them, then maybe people will be able to make more good choices in life.

It's really good think about this sometimes. God bless you. :)

well, we humans have, too the instinct of survival which leads us to careless, unthinked - evil deeds. I don't know which comes first - being initially good or
the desire to make everything easier for survival.

hahaha old, smart and saggy politicians?? eh diba hindi nga good ang image ng politicians, so why listen? hehehe namimilosopo lang. kasi we choose to be what we are. Kasi inspite of the fact that we are created in God's image and likeness, because of great love, God gave us freewill as well. so we choose what we are now, from the beginning of time. From the moment that God gave adam and eve the power to choose if they will eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge God already gave us the freewill to be what we choose to be. So always remember to make better decisions.

Hey there's nothing wrong with supermodels. Dumb supermodels exist, and they're used to prove a point. Chill.

because we all have a choice. so the question is, why do some people make dumb choices? simply because they are dumb persons. your choice reflects who you are as a person = there is so much we can improve in ourselves and we should always seek to improve ourselves.

Hi, Mikee. Ngayon ko lang nahanap ang blogsite na ito and it is nice because it is worthwhile reading.

In my opinion, we perceive that the good path is the one which is less traveled because the established norms tell us that the things we mostly do are the wrong things. We regard things that are "good" when it gives one great benefits and honors- this includes studying hard, going to church everyday, etc etc.. Some people, despite the promises of these acts, choose not to do these "right" things because it is too tiring to do them, and they are contented on the results of their actions and they do. (You may want to establish the context of these "good" acts that we are talking here, i think it is too wide. The examples that i gave might not be the things that you are pointing out. :D )

People prefer to listen to not-that-important things because it is very easy. One does not need to use his higher cognitive skills to understand the information or the topic offered to him. It is not tiring to their mind and sometimes, it makes them think that they are always better people than others.
Important speeches, such as the speech of a very smart politician, are less attended to because of the lack of interest of the one watching it.

These are just my preliminary thoughts about that. I may think about it further. Godbless.

I hope I never said anything offending to anyone. And if I did, I am sorry. :D (These are just an opinion of a 17-year-old person)
